Last night the eyes of the football world were turned to the Grimaldi Forum for the 2018/19 Champions League draw. Monaco was the host for the group stages draw of this elite tournament.

The event, which also served as a chance for UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations, to honour the best players of the 2017/2018 season, attracted an A-list audience and the attention of the world’s media. Among the VIP guests were David and Victoria Beckham. The legendary England captain was awarded the UEFA Presidents Award at the gala.

Monacair were delighted that many of the world’s best players chose a Monaco helicopter transfer to travel to the Principality in style and convenience. Spain’s Sergio Ramos and Croatian captain Luka Modrić, from reigning UEFA Champions League champions Real Madrid, arrived together, while Liverpool and Egypt striker Mohamed Salah followed.

The Real Madrid stars had reason to celebrate while in the Principality. Luka Modrić was named 2017/2018 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year and Champions League Midfielder of the Season and Sergio Ramos was crowned Champions League Defender of the Season.

2018/19 UEFA Champions League Draw: Monaco in Group A

 

The UEFA Champions League draw in Monaco marks the first step in a long and certainly gruelling road to the final, which will be held in Madrid on July 1st, 2019. Of course, the draw held particular interest for local residents keen to see who A.S. Monaco would be matched up against in the group stage. Now, we know the answer: the men in red and white will face the following teams in the group rounds: Club Atlético de Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and FC Bruges.

The first game kicks off on September 18th, when Monaco takes on Atlético Madrid at 9pm in the Stade Louis II.
